Her grandmother has never written a recipe down in sixty years and cooks entirely in instructions: take the pan, pour in the water, don't lift the lid, cut the potatoes big and the onion small, stir it or it'll catch, salt it at the end, now don't touch it for an hour. Built to teach the imperative and the order words that hold any set of instructions together — and honest that borscht takes two hours.
